Time for the right of public access in several languages

On Monday, the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency presented new material for communicating the right of public access. The previous material, which is free to use, has now been supplemented with information in easy Swedish, English and in additional languages that are common among our visitors.

Swedish Lapland Visitors Board’s Marketing Manager Johanna Ögren has been a member of the reference group that provided input to the update of the material. She took the opportunity to highlight, among other things, the importance of safety for visitors who are unfamiliar with nature, laws and regulations linked to reindeer husbandry, hunting and fishing, and how to clarify the rules for motorhomes and campervans linked to the right of public access.

The reference group also included Visit Sweden, Visit Skåne, Naturum Värmland, Naturturismföretagen and Hej Främling. The existing bank of material is now being supplemented with more languages but also with new content. Among the new content, we find more focus on the landowner’s perspective, but also information on how to act when you encounter reindeer.

This is how the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency describes the concept of “It’s easy to do the right of public access”:

The concept focuses on all that the right of public access provides – and at the same time, without any preconceptions, shows what obligations we have in a simple and inviting way. The tone is positive, guiding and encouraging, sometimes with a twinkle in the eye. The new concept is based on the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency’s visual identity and also contains unique elements to distinguish the right to roam.

All materials are free to use for those who want to communicate about the right to freedom of movement. You can also order printed materials or print them on your own printer.

You can find all materials here.
