Successful digitalization event in Luleå – brought together the tourism industry from Arctic Europe

For two days, actors from the hospitality industry in northern Sweden, Norway and Finland gathered for the AETC Digitalization and Product Development Event. The event, which took place at Scandic Luleå, offered inspiring lectures, discussions and workshops focusing on digitalization and product development.

At a time when the world traveler is becoming increasingly digital, the conditions for tourism entrepreneurs are changing. To stand out in the competition and get travelers to come here, we and our companies need to keep up with developments.

For two days, we therefore immersed ourselves in digitalization and product development. Participants gained insights from leading experts in AI, digital marketing and sustainable tourism. Highlights included keynote lectures by Märtha Rehnberg from DareDisrupt, who spoke about the technologies of the future, and Juho Pesonen from the University of Eastern Finland, who shared practical AI tools for product development. Petter Norén from Swedish Lapland Visitors Board was also a keynote speaker and talked about AI and sustainability – what should we do and what should we avoid? How do we use AI responsibly?

Participants were able to put knowledge into practice in workshops led by Arctic Factory.

On day two, Arctic Factory held workshops where participants had the opportunity to put knowledge into practice. In conclusion, the event was a great place for networking where participants got both inspiration and concrete tools to meet the digital challenges of the future.

In the feedback after the event, several participants highlighted the good mix of professional speakers, that they felt inspired to get started with AI, and that they appreciated the mix of perspectives where AI’s pros and cons were given space.
