A new website will attract visitors and residents to Kalix
Kalix municipality has recently launched the website visitkalix.se. The aim is to strengthen Kalix as an attractive destination for visitors but also as a place to live. The website is part of the municipality’s strategy to attract more visitors and potential residents to the area.
Visitkalix.se offers information on everything from local attractions and activities to accommodation options and events. It is designed to provide a simple and inspiring overview of what Kalix has to offer, both for visitors and for those considering moving to the municipality.
“We have created the website to be more accessible and to promote Kalix, both to visitors, potential newcomers and locals,” says Anneli Granström, Destination Developer Kalix Municipality.
“The aim is to promote and highlight all that is great about Kalix, and contribute to economic growth. By offering information and engagement, we hope to guide visitors from initial interest to becoming residents of the municipality.”
The website is not only the result of an idea from the municipality, but it has also been recognized that there are requests from the business community. There has been a lack of a landing page to jointly market the municipality. The website will make it easier for visitors to find information about Kalix’s activities and opportunities.
“We believe that there is a strong link between first visiting Kalix and later moving here, and this website will create both interest and ease for those considering settling here,” says Sanna Wallma, Kalix municipality’s relocation pilot.
The site was launched in the summer and has received a very positive response, both from individuals and businesses. Sanna and Anneli say that they continuously receive valuable input from both local residents and the business community that allows them to constantly develop the website further.
A popular destination for both national and international visitors
Kalix is a popular tourist destination, with visitors from France, Germany and Italy in particular in winter. During the summer, visitors from Norway, Finland, and the rest of Sweden dominate. Between January and July this year, there was an increase of 13.2% in the number of guest nights compared to the same period last year. The increase has mainly consisted of foreign guest nights. Sanna Wallma has also noticed an increased interest from both international and Swedish people who want to move to Kalix.
“We believe that the website will help to attract more visitors and newcomers while offering easily accessible information about everything Kalix has to offer for everyone. By increasing our visibility as a destination, we hope to create interest and curiosity about the place,” says Sanna and Anneli.
The municipality of Kalix believes in the idea of gathering information for both visitors and potential newcomers in one place.
“A genuine commitment and interest in moving to a new place often starts with a first visit. It is during this visit that one gets a feel for the area, meets potential neighbors, and explores the local amenities. This first impression can be crucial in deciding to move and start a new chapter in life,” says Sanna Wallma.
